Young writers, storytellers, artists, researchers, activists, and community leaders from Northeast India now have an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations around gender, ecology, climate change, and development through the GreeNE Feminist Lab 2026.
Organised by Zubaan in collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Stiftung, New Delhi, the GreeNE Feminist Lab returns for its second edition with a focus on fostering dialogue, collaborative learning, and community-led knowledge production across the Northeast and Eastern Himalayan region.
The programme seeks to bring together individuals who are actively engaged with their communities and interested in understanding how environmental challenges, climate change, displacement, labour, and development intersect with questions of gender and social justice. Through workshops, discussions, and shared learning, participants will explore these issues through a feminist lens while documenting lived experiences and local histories from their communities.
The initiative comes at a crucial time for the region. Northeast India continues to face growing ecological pressures driven by climate change, rapid urbanisation, hydropower projects, industrial expansion, and large-scale developmental interventions. The lab aims to create a space where young changemakers can collectively reflect on these realities and imagine more sustainable and equitable futures.
