Ten-year-old Sochumlo Suki Ezung is set to make history as possibly the youngest author in Nagaland with the release of her book, “Suki’s Magic Box,” on May 10 in Kohima. Vishü Rita Krocha, the publisher from PenThrill Publication House, shared this exciting news at a pre-release event on Friday evening.
“Suki’s Magic Box” is a charming children’s book showcasing the creativity of Sochumlo Suki Ezung and her friend and classmate, Yimyanglula Longkumer. Both are students at G Rio Higher Secondary School in Kohima. In an interview, Sochumlo shared that she began her writing journey by penning stories about her teachers in a scrapbook, drawing inspiration from everything around her. Starting at the tender age of seven, her imaginative tales have now blossomed into this delightful collection.
The book is beautifully illustrated by Yimyanglula Longkumer and brought to life with colors by six-year-old Leree Jane Krocha, a class-1 student at Mt. Hermon Higher Secondary School in Kohima. Sochumlo’s love for reading was nurtured by her mother, Meripeni Zares Ezung, who introduced her to books at the age of three and read to her regularly, fostering a deep and enduring love for stories.
Meripeni shared that Sochumlo cannot fall asleep without reading and frequently entertains the family with her storytelling. She hopes that “Suki’s Magic Box” will inspire other children to discover and develop their own hidden talents.
