A widely anthologised poet, short-story writer, ultra-runner, and hyrox athlete, Dr Achingliu Kamei teaches Literature at DU, New Delhi. She holds a PhD from Jawaharlal University. Her published books include a collection of folktales, “Naga Tales Dawn” (2017); “Songs of Raengdailu,” a poetry collection (2021); “Liangtuang Pu, Illustrated Novella for Children” (2021); “Headspace, the Mind’s Realm,” a poetry collection with poet Aaron Pamei (2022); “Naga Tales Morning Blush” (2025); “Restless Oceans” (2024); “Roots and Wings” (2025); and “Cowries and Other poems” (2025). She is working on her next children’s book, titled “Adventures with Grandma Gaipui, Where the Mountain meets the Waterfall”. Several of her short stories, a novella, and poems have been translated into Hindi.
She has contributed her expertise as a reviewer for the PM-YUVA mentorship Scheme, 2021, by screening and evaluating numerous book proposals and mentoring young creative writers under the National Book Trust India the implementing agency for the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education. She has presented several academic papers at International and National conferences and poetry festivals, and has given several invited talks. Her area of interest is Naga English Literature and Literature from North East India.
Two poems from “Songs of Raengdailu” have been selected for inclusion in the NEP 2020 English Syllabus B A (Major Paper) of the Department of English, Jamia Millia Islamia. Furthermore, “Songs of Raengdailu” was among the books selected for study in the Interdisciplinary course on Global and Literary Culture Studies (cross-listed with Indigenous Literatures of India, Studies in Asia, International Studies and English) at the University of North Carolina, Asheville, USA.
As an ultra-runner, she races through India's diverse terrains together with her husband, pushing her limits and inspiring others with her unique blend of intellect and athleticism, intertwining literature, education, and endurance sports.
