Dr. Cherrie Lalnunziri Chhangte is a poet, fiction writer, translator, and folk and culture studies enthusiast. She belongs to the Mizo tribe of Northeast India. She obtained her Doctorate Degree under Northeastern Hill University, India on African American literature. She went on to do her postdoctoral studies on a comparative study of Native American and Mizo narratives at NYU and Stanford University, USA under the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship. She taught for eighteen years at Mizoram University; presently she has taken an early retirement to focus more on her family and her passion for writing.
