Dr. Samudra Gupta Kashyap is a distinguished Indian journalist, author, and academic administrator from Guwahati, Assam. He currently serves as the Chancellor of Nagaland University. Before transitioning into academia, he built a reputation as one of the most prominent voices on Northeast Indian affairs through a journalism career spanning over three decades. He also served as the State Information Commissioner of Assam from 2020 to 2023. An accomplished writer, Dr. Kashyap has authored over a dozen books in English and Assamese, focusing heavily on regional history, the Indian freedom struggle, and geopolitics. For his contributions to journalism and literature, he has received several prestigious honors, including the Bhupen Hazarika National Award and the Netaji Garima Award.
